Independent and obsessed with cats, Ashley found a way to entertain and express herself through drawing in her room at a very young age. Her artistic journey began with pencil drawings of cats having a party over and over because that seemed to be the only suggestion her mom could think of when asked for drawing prompts. Bored with partying kitty cats, Ashley began to spice up her sketchbook with fairies, mermaids and portraits.
After high school, she attended beauty school. At age 18, she graduated beauty school and moved out into her own apartment. Broke and unable to afford cable or internet, Ashley was forced to find new ways to fill her free time, which is when she found her love for watercolors. After 12 years of working as a hairstylist and painting and drawing as a hobby, Ashley felt she had a creative void she was unable to fill with her career as a hairstylist. Compelled to follow her artistic dreams, she quit working as a full time hairstylist and decided go to college for art.
During her first year of college, she lost her father to brain cancer. She nearly dropped out of college to be more present in his last few days, however he encouraged her to continue. Heartbroken and mentally lost, she found relief in her artwork and educational goals. She is currently a full time student at the University of Washington studying painting and drawing while she builds her portfolio in hopes to be accepted into a 3D animation capstone. The last few years may have been a whirlwind of life changes, however Ashley is happier than she has ever been in her passionate pursuit of art.
