After working in computer animation for over a decade, Toronto artist, Zoey yearned for something tactile & tangible. She started painting in oils in 2013, focusing in on still life painting. Painting in animate objects she was interested in capturing a hidden life or character in common everyday items. In 2016, she began exploring themes of human experience in her paintings. She narrowed her focus to how we interact with objects, our tactile relationships between our hands & objects we encounter. The potentially profound relationships we have with in animate objects. Zoey employs a loose realistic style, with focus on specific details. She loves to work with lighting & value to create mood & atmosphere.
